MoSART

MoSART is short for ‘Mobile Soundscape Appraisal and Recording Technology’, and is the smartphone app you can use to appraise the sound in your environment. You do this by making a 30 second recording, while answering a couple of questions like ‘What do you think of the sound?’ and ‘What types of sound do you hear?’ This way, we collect personal experiences of environmental sounds. To us, this personal part is very important because people are more then just decibel meters. Of course we value privacy highly, and your measurements will be handled confidential, anonymous, and secure.

We are SoundAppraisal, a spin-off from the University of Groningen in The Netherlands, and we research how humans experience environmental sound, and the effects it has. We apply our research in for example long term healthcare, at music festivals, in workplaces or homes. Through your measurements we learn how people perceive sound. Based on this knowledge we advise, and create awareness on the influence of sound in our daily life.
